Mrs. Poonawalla in her column 'From the heart' (Volume 13, July 2004) wrote,”In this issue I would like to make a mention of one special gesture from a colleague and a friend-PROFESSOR GORAN GROSSKOPF. He has recently retired as the Chairman of the Tetra Laval Group. He has given a magnificent contribution of US $ 25,000 to the Foundation. Professor Grosskopf, had for many years contemplated on starting a charitable institute of his own. But finally he decided to support LPF. In his own words “ Lila, LPF is doing such an excellent job in the complete process of selection, mentoring, training and grooming the future young Ladies who will hold important positions in society, that I thought it better to leave it to you”. He has assured that he will continue to support the foundation in the future also.”
Prof. Goran Grosskopf, currently Chairman of InterIKEA S.A.and Bergendahlgruppen,Board member of AB Ratos, Possio AB, Åkerströms AB and Svox AG, till recently also was Member of the Russian Prime Minister's Foreign Investment Advisory Council (FIAC). We are indeed fortunate to have such an eminent personality, a man of few words but great deeds, as our well-wisher and patron. On our special request he has been kind to give this e-mail interview to MS. RAJANI PANCHANG.
| Q: A double-degree in Economics and double doctorate in Law are amazing!
A: Please note that I am Bachelor of Economics and Dr of Laws. I also have an honorary doctor's degree in economics.
Q: Which of the two subjects interested you more and why?
A: I think both. I started my career in economics as a university lecturer and I have written a couple of articles and a book in Economics. However, in the legal field I have specialized in taxes, which is very close to economics so I have had a great benefit in having the double degrees.
Q: How was it to excel in both specializations?
A: Since they are in many respects integrated I think it has only been a great advantage to have knowledge in both fields.
Q: Did you have career aspirations in mind while making the choice?
A: Not at all! It just happened.
Q: You have had experiences of being lecturer and a Professor when you were teaching Economics and Law. Later you became the CEO and Chairperson of Tetra Laval Group where you were on the consumer / industry side of the same subjects. How were the two experiences different from each other?
A: The academic world is very different from the corporate world. In the academic world you have your freedom to plan your day as you like and what interests
