| Mrs. Fernandes is a teacher by profession. She has a long history of working with the under privileged. She has headed the Works of Charity, a social organization of the Mount Carmel Church and has overseen the education of several needy children, who are today pursuing careers of their choice. This apart, the organization ran counseling services, provided medical aid & imparted relief in various forms to impoverished families. Mrs. Fernandes also served as the secretary of Sagar Parivar, a citizen neighbourhood group and has spearheaded several outreach programs to the less privileged. In addition, she is proud to have facilitated several inter-faith meetings with the purpose of creating understanding, building sensitivity and bringing people of different communities together. More recently, she was part of the formation of a group called ‘My Right Hand’ that offers counseling services & support to battered women. |
