| She is one of the first woman mechanical engineer from the University of Pune with a B.E. and M.E., who until recently was Joint Director with the Defense Research & Development Organization of the Government of India. She has several ‘firsts’ to her credit. The successful development of Safety Arming Mechanisms and Fuses for Guided Missiles as well as aircraft bombs, for the first time in India, is one of her achievements. She also developed the indigenous technology for the design and manufacture of very large size Ball and Roller Bearings called ‘slewing rings’ and the design and reliability proving of certain mission critical systems for Agni-II Guided Missile Launcher. She has won the Agni Award for Excellence in Self
Reliance 1999, the DRDO Best Project Award – 1985, and IMM Cinni Best Woman Executive Award – 1987. She is an honorary member of various regional and national level bodies for technology development and awareness such as CII, BIS, etc. |
